The UTS3036A is a 9 kHz to 3.6 GHz real-time signal analyzer of the Performance-Series, combining real-time spectrum analysis, a built-in vector network analyzer (S11/S21), and a built-in tracking generator in one instrument — a different class from a swept-spectrum analyzer. It is the entry point of the Performance-Series for teams whose workload has outgrown swept-spectrum capability.
Real-time spectrum analysis is standard at 10 MHz bandwidth (expandable to 40 MHz via a licensed option), with 100% probability-of-intercept down to a 6.68 µs minimum signal duration, so transient emissions, frequency-hopping signals, and intermittent EMI that fall between sweeps are captured deterministically. The internal VNA covers 100 kHz to 3.6 GHz with 80 dB S21 dynamic range and over 40 dB S11 directivity after calibration, with no external reflection bridge required. Displayed average noise level reaches −165 dBm/Hz typical (200 MHz to 1.5 GHz, preamp on), phase noise runs −100 dBc/Hz typical at 10 kHz offset, and amplitude precision is under 0.7 dB. Resolution bandwidth spans 1 Hz to 10 MHz across 40,001 sweep points, with 12 real-time / 6 swept traces, a frequency mask trigger, and a 10.1-inch 1280 × 800 capacitive multi-touch display. Programmable via SCPI over USB-TMC, Socket, and VXI-11, with a built-in web server, LabVIEW, and NI-VISA support.
Optional licensed packages add wider real-time bandwidth, digital demodulation (ASK/FSK/PSK/QAM/MSK/DPSK with EVM), I/Q capture, EMI pre-compliance, and an advanced measurement kit. It suits advanced RF design, EMC engineering, and modulated-carrier characterization. Certified to CE and cETLus.
