The MSO8804HD is an 8 GHz, 4-channel mixed signal oscilloscope built on a native 12-bit ADC architecture and a custom analog front-end ASIC. It provides a 20 GSa/s real-time sample rate in half-channel mode (10 GSa/s full-channel), 500 Mpts standard memory depth (expandable to 2 Gpts), a calculated rise time of ≤55 ps, and a sustained capture rate of ≥1,000,000 wfms/s in Sequential Mode on a 15.6-inch FHD 1920×1080 capacitive multi-touch display.
The 12-bit resolution holds across the full 8 GHz bandwidth with no ERES averaging or sample-rate trade (up to 16 effective bits with ERES), and the effective number of bits stays above 7 at full system bandwidth (50 Ω, 50 mV/div, −3 dBFS). The front end provides 8 GHz / 20 GSa/s on a half channel and 4 GHz / 10 GSa/s on the full channel, with inherent jitter ≤150 fs RMS and a noise floor as low as 390 µVrms. More than 21 protocol decoders span embedded, automotive, computer/communications, and aerospace domains, with RS-232/UART, I²C, SPI, CAN, and LIN standard. Optional packages add jitter analysis and eye diagrams, PAM-3 through PAM-7 multi-level signaling for 50G/100G/200G Ethernet and optical links, and automated USB 2.0 and Ethernet physical-layer conformance testing with pass/fail reporting. An on-instrument MATLAB compiler and full SCPI automation over LAN, USB, and a built-in web server are included.
With 52 automated measurements, an optional 16-channel logic probe pod, and up to 520,000 frames of hardware real-time recording, it suits high-speed digital validation, signal-integrity engineering, and conformance pre-screening on PCIe Gen2 reference clocks, USB 2.0 high-speed lanes, and 100/1000 Mbps Ethernet timing.
